Surbiton Horticultural Society
Flower & Vegetable Show Regulations
No entry can be accepted after 8pm on the Thursday preceding each show except for certain classes which may be noted in the newsletter prior to the show.
1. Members having paid their subscriptions will be entitled to compete in any class on payment of 20p per entry.
Non members 30p per entry. Childrens' entries are free.
2. Entries must be received by 8pm on the Thursday prior to each show. Entries should be submitted to names given on the entry form. If more convenient, entries may be phoned through and the entry fee paid at the time of staging.
3. The Committee reserve the right to refuse any entry and in the event of such refusal it is not required to give an explanation.
4. No exhibitor or members of the same household will be entitled to make more than one entry in any one class. This rule does not apply to the Floral Art, Childrens' Domestic & Handicraft Sections and Plant of the Year classes where members of the same household may exhibit in the same class.
5. Any exhibitor competing with exhibits not produced, grown, made or arranged by the exhibitor unless otherwise provided for in the schedule will be disqualified. All flowers, fruit and vegetables must be grown in the exhibitor's garden or allotment (except for those used in the Floral art or Domestic Classes or unless otherwise stated) and
must have been in his/her possession for at least 6 weeks (pot plants 3 months) before the show.
The Committee reserves the right to demand proof.
6. All exhibits are to be staged between 7.30 and 10.30am on the day of the show and no exhibit can be accepted by the Committee after the latest time for staging.
7. If circumstances permit and at the exhibitor's risk, exhibits may be staged at the halls between 8.30 and 10pm on the evening prior to the show.
8. Exhibitors must not handle any exhibit or exhibit card other than their own. A steward must be asked for assistance if insufficient space or other cause necessitates movement of an exhibit or exhibits.
9. Exhibitors must supply vases, plates etc. as required.
10. The Society will take care of exhibits but it should be noted that all exhibits, personal property etc. shall be at the risk of the exhibitors and the Society shall not be liable for compensation for loss or damage from any cause whatsoever.
Should the show for any reason not be held no exhibitor shall have any claim on the Society.
11. All varieties are to be named, if known, using the variety cards supplied.
